July 2008~

First time updating this blog after Jane has got back in Malaysia.

What has Jane done in the past few weeks?

13th July : Got back in Malaysia at the evening.

18th July : Moved to Pandan Indah, KL.

22nd July : Met shouters ( Daniel, Aaron, Ricky) from ShoutOut for the 1st time, drank in the mamak from 11pm till the next day morning 5.45am.

24th July ~ 25th July : Went to Port Dickson with Daniel, Aaron, and David, without any schedule or plan in advance. That's what made the trip simple, yet fun and enjoyable. From this trip, Jane had learnt more about those who went along. ^^

Camwhoring with David's Sony T-300. From front : David, Jane, Aaron, Daniel.

31st July : Met many more shouters in MidValley, other than Daniel, Aaron and David, who are Jess, William, Steven, WaiSeng, Angeline, Satkuru, to catch up The Mummy, which also the 2nd worst movie that Jane has ever watched in the cinema.

Yupe, it's fun and interesting hanging out with shouters.

Haha... With all the digicams and DSLRs around, Jane has learnt and now trying her best to be camera-ready all the time when hanging out with them.

Lunch with "Old" friends~ ^^

Jane was featured in Johnson's blog .

Yeah, Jane knows Johnson and Johny since the year 2001 through an internet community.

There are a bunch out there from the community, like David, Daniel, Amy, Fanny, Lilian, Cheryl and etc.

First person from the community, who managed to meet Jane in Korea is Brian .

After so many years, Johnson and Johny are the second and third person Jane met from the community.

As what Johnson mentioned in the blog, Jane managed to meet one of the community member, David's brother and sister, but haven't managed to meet David yet.

In fact, during this trip back in Malaysia, Jane tried so hard arranging time with Johnson and Eric, just to try to meet as many persons as possible.

The funny part of this lunch meeting was Eric, who was the one suggested for lunch first, but also who was the one who couldn't make it at the end, due to last minute urgent meeting in company. Hahahaha

Anyway, it was a nice lunch. Thanks to Johnson and Johny for the lunch. :)

Today, Jane decided to update the blog and let Jane's blog readers know what actually happened to her.

There are extreme changes in Jane's life, enough to change her mind on working towards her new year resolutions.

She is going to give up the No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 resolutions in the list.

Refer to No.3, instead of 4 papers, she is still trying to get 2 done, which are in the progress.

While refering to No. 4 and No. 5, due to her health, she decides to go back to Malaysia for good after her graduation on 25th February 2009.

What have exactly happened to Jane?

7th April, 1230am : For the very 1st time Jane went to the emergency room alone.

17th April, 840am : For the very 1st time Jane went to the hospital to get gastric endoscope done alone.

24th April, 420pm : Jane was told that she got Erosive Gastritis and need to take medicine for at least few months to get it controlled.

Jane has been overwhelmed with illness, stress... which have been making her hardly to breath.

Jane does not know how to be optimistic anymore since the year 2008 does not seem to be a good year to her.

Guess, it's time for Jane to go home to take a good rest in order to get back her healthy life.

Huh?! What?! ......

Recently, Jane scratches her head while wondering, "Why would people always think in this way, say things in this way?"

"What do you do?" , people asks.

"I am studying in Korea, doing master degree." , Jane answers.

"Wah, your family must be rich." or "Wah, your parents must spending a lot for you to study overseas in Korea for so many years."

". . . . . . "

More than 90% of those asking Jane that question thinks and says that to Jane when they get to know that Jane is still studying in Korea.

Maybe in majority's eyes, that's a normal and appropriate "estimination" towards Jane.

It's understandable if one thinks that parents pay for thier children undergraduate level to get a first degree, but how many are they out there actually know that majority (more than 90%) of graduate school students pursuing thier second or third degree with scholarship without relying on family financial support for thier study?

Jane's expenses in Korea for more than 6 years until today, it's all from scholarship and Jane's hard work. Yeah, Jane's parents do send some money to Jane once in a while for emergency help.

But, still, with those responses from others, Jane feels stone, embrasse, or whatever.

Explain on the spot to people who said so?

That's not what Jane would do. Why?

Jane doesn't want others to have a further misunderstanding that Jane is a person who likes showing off.

Just a thought : "Mind our own business, instead of being busybody hurting other's feelings."

Pressure vs Volume~

In thermodynamics, non-ideal gas rule : P V = z n R T

By just considering only the relation of P (pressure) and V (volume), P is inverse proportion to V.

According to the equation, in other words, a satifaction of volume is necessary to relieve pressure.

So, when it is applied to human, generally to majority, it's understandable why one would gain weight when one gets too stress from works, studies, relationships and etc.

Because usually one would eat whatever till one thinks it's enough to relieve stress.

As a consequence, one gains weight, which means one's volume goes up.

Agree? Not?

Maybe you disagree. But Jane thinks and observes that it does apply to majority in the society. :)

Anyway, Jane wishes everyone has a very Happy Chinese New Year 2008 with a good new year ahead.

Be happy and optimism always is one of the good ways to destress as well. :)

Korean traditional food ~

Korean has rice cakes on Korean New Year.

Because they believe that by eating rice cake, they would have longer lives.

Here are some of the common rice cakes in Korea. (But Jane doesn't know the names)

They are yummy but for non-Korean, they may taste strange. :)

Korean has seaweed soup on thier birthday.

Because after a mother gave birth, she would have seaweed soup that good for women health.

So, during birthday, eating seaweed soup is for remembering how suffer thier mother was when giving birth.

There are many types of seaweed soup.

Such as :

Beef seaweed soup.

Seaweed soup with eggs!

With mushroom!

With dried prawn!

Seaweed soup with oysters!!

After have been staying in Korea for more than 6 years, Jane has seaweed soup and rice cakes on her birthday and during new year as well. :)

It's not the end yet~ :)

"우리 삼성 붙었어~~~~!!!!! ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ"
"We got reply from Samsung~~~~!!!!! hehehehehe"

20080111, the snowy day, Jane got this sms from PeiPei.

Jane was so happy, like flying high in the snowy sky fulled with joys, as if she got the job herself. :)

From left to right : PeiPei, PekFang, HsinPei, Karen, SiMin.

PeiPei and HsinPei got a job in the same company, Samsung Engineering Korea. Both of them are having sweet relationship with 2 lucky Korean guys. Got a job here definitely a very great news that deserves a celebration.

Especially to PeiPei, Jane is very glad that she has found her cute and sweet Mr. Right here. Why is Jane so sure that is her Mr. Right? She just knows it from the way PeiPei told her about thier lovely story. She can see how sweet PeiPei is and the difference of PeiPei's new relationship, compare to previous relationships in these few years.

Congratulations, PeiPei and HsinPei!!! :)

This is XiaoJing. She and PekFang got a job offer from DongHwa Holding Korea. Congratulations, girls. (Got to know this news earlier on Jane's birthday.)

The guy in the middle is KangBoon. He got 2 job offers from both Samsung Engineering Korea and DongHwa Holding Korea. A smart guy. He is now in a dilemma on choosing what company he wants to work at. Jane hopes the information she got for him could help him out from the dilemma. :)

This year, 2008, starts with a totally different way to Jane. Around the same time of 2007, Jane was so upset that most of her friends leaving her and back to Malaysia after graduation. Her friends here are getting less and less. But, this sadness is washed away from the news they have got to her. :)

Yeah, Jane is so glad and happy for them, because :
- Jane is not alone in Seoul.
- Jane and her friends story in Seoul is not ended yet.
- Jane's 3rd birthday wish has came true to PeiPei, KangBoon and HsinPei. :)

Yes!! Jane's 3rd birthday wish of 2008 birthday.

Wish everyone around Jane have thier wishes come true. :)

20080111~A wonderful day... :)

Yupe, 20080111 was a wonderful day for Jane, because snow did bring Jane a good day onwards with good news. :)

It was a wonderful whitey snowy morning.

Anyway, there were what Jane saw on her way to work.

Yes, this is what makes Jane worry about everytime it snows. The slippery ground!! It's still fine to walk on it when it's snow, but after everyone steps and steps on it till it turns to ice, it's not fun at all, unless you are good in skating. Unfortunately, Jane is not. lol

Well, the next two photos were taken from Jane's office. Views of snowy park from the 3rd floor. :)

Wonder what good news Jane had in this snowy day?

Do come back again. :)

Flash back of 2007 (II)~

Let's continue the flash back of the year 2007.

Nothing much happened during March ~ August, but in these few months, Jane had gone through very tough and hard time she ever had, which enough to change Jane from being who she used to be.

Jane officially started working in Korea Institute of Ceramics Engineering and Technology as a graduate student researcher in Electronic Materials Lab of Electronic Components & Materials Devision where Jane started to have everyday-is-due-date life and also where Jane learns how to deal with endless workloads and complicated relationship among colleagues.

These are those who Jane has been working with. Some were not here in this photo. Working while studying in this foriegnland has made Jane become tougher. Thanks to them for showing Jane the other part of LIFE that Jane couldn't imagine at all when she was still a full-time undergraduate student back in the university.

Anyway, these are part of them in Chemical & Biological Engineering Department of Korea University that have been creating a WARM home for Jane in this foriegnland. Thanks to the professors, seniors, juniors and friends for leading Jane to see things differently and to think positively.

"You are always welcomed. Microsystem Lab of Korea University is your home in Korea. You have us here to be with you when you need company." said Dr. Song, Jane's supervising professor in Korea University.

Specially thanks to Dr. Song, who has made Jane realises and sees the true color of the society, and also made Jane feels so warm deep inside her heart that she is appreciated.

Specially thanks to her labmate, Sang-Mi, who has been lending Jane a hand when she needs help.

Yes, Jane has changed to be stronger, not to give up easily, taking up challenges without hesitate twice.

Yes, Jane is slowly walking over the peak of her graduate student life. :)
